This is more than a book. It’s healing through art.

💡 The Inspiration

This project was born from the heart of Savanah Bean, a four-time cancer survivor who spent much of her childhood in and out of hospitals. During long, lonely hours filled with uncertainty and fragile health, art became her lifeline. It helped her process emotions, escape fear, and stay grounded through overwhelming challenges.

While recovering from a brain marrow transplant at age 16, Savanah developed encephalitis, a brain infection that caused memory loss and further complications. Through it all, she held on to creativity as a way to cope. Thanks to a generous sponsor, she was able to take classes at the Bakersfield Art Association where she found healing, joy, and a sense of belonging.

Now, with a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Savanah is giving back. It was her idea to collaborate with local artists to create a coloring book that brings comfort, inspiration, and healing to people facing similar struggles.

This project is her way of paying it forward. She knows what it feels like to be a child stuck in a hospital room, scared and isolated. Through this book, she hopes to share the same creative hope that once helped save her.

All funds received through donations and sponsorships are used responsibly to support our mission — including printing and distributing free coloring books, supporting artists, staffing, outreach, and community events.
