A Healing Coloring Book + Seasonal Gallery Show

Art that heals. Art that gives. Join our mission to create a coloring book and exhibition that brings comfort, peace, and inspiration to those going through life’s hardest moments. Your artwork can become part of a powerful movement to uplift people across our community.

Coloring books created from selected artwork will be distributed free of charge to:

  • Hospital patients

  • Foster children

  • Hospice care recipients

  • Women in shelters

  • Seniors in elder care

  • People experiencing homelessness

  • Veterans

  • And more individuals in need of healing and serenity

🌿 Summer 2025 Group Exhibition

Theme: “Serenity”
📍 The Art Center, 1607 19th Street, Bakersfield, CA

We are now accepting submissions for a juried group show themed around serenity: art that evokes calm, healing, peace, and reflection. Selected pieces will be:

✔️ Featured in a 3-month group show at the Art Center
✔️ Transformed into black line drawings for a community-distributed healing coloring book

🖼 Submission Guidelines

✅ Artwork Requirements

  • Original designs only — No AI-generated images, no copies of other artists’ work

  • If using a reference photo, it must be taken by the artist or have proper written permission

  • Acceptable mediums: Paintings, prints, photographs, mixed media

  • Full color only (Art2Heal4Hue will turn your original artwork into black line drawings for coloring book)

  • Maximum size: 11” x 14” vertical (including frame)

  • Up to 3 entries per artist

📋 Artist Info (Required with Entry)

  • A high-resolution PNG or JPEG file of each artwork (minimum 1MB, scanned in PNG preferred)

  • A short artist bio (max 100 words)

  • Artist photo

  • A brief statement explaining how your piece expresses serenity and healing

💵 Entry Fees

  • $20 per entry

  • Payable to ART 2 HEAL by Cash, Check, or Zelle

🖼 Presentation Guidelines

  • Artwork must be ready to hang

    • Wire-hung only (no sawtooth hangers)

    • Canvas: Gallery-wrapped, minimum 1″ depth, painted edges, no visible staples

    • Paper: Must be framed under glass or plexiglass

  • 3D works must be safe and properly mounted

  • Wrap wire ends with tape and use D-rings for hanging

  • Acceptance Notification: Friday, August 22, 2025

  • Art Drop-Off: Friday, August 29, 2025 | 10 AM – 4 PM

  • Meet the Artists Reception and Unveiling of the Fall Edition of Art2Heal4Hue Coloring Book: Saturday, November 8, 2025 | 12 PM – 1 PM

  • Pick-Up: Sunday, November 30, 2025 | 10 AM – 4 PM

  • Wednesday – Friday: 10 AM – 5 PM

  • Saturday & Sunday: 10 AM – 4 PM

  • Closed Monday & Tuesday

🛍 Sales & Commission

  • All artwork must be for sale (except for artists under age 18)

  • The Bakersfield Art Association will retain a 30% commission on all sales

📜 Legal & Licensing

Copyright Policy

  • Artists retain full ownership of their work

  • By submitting, artists grant ART 2 HEAL 4 HUE a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

    • Use artwork for coloring book production and sales

    • Promote the contest and project on social media, websites, and product packaging

Image Usage Rights

  • Art may be featured in:

    • Digital and print marketing

    • Product packaging

    • Display on Art2Heal4Hue, BAA and partner websites

  • Full credit will be given to the artist wherever possible

Liability

  • All submissions will be handled with care

  • BAA and ART 2 HEAL 4 HUE are not liable for loss or damage before, during, or after the show

  • Artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance
